The word tourism defines tourists, as people who travel to and stay in other places outside the usual environment. During vacations many outside tourist came and visit the india. There are many things to see in Chandigarh like Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden, Rose Garden, Leisure Valley, Museum & Art Gallery, Elante Mall, Sector 17(Markets) etc.
Mansa Devi Temple
Mata Mansa Devi Temple at Panchkula is a symbol of Himalayan culture and faith. The shrine located on the foot hills of Shivalik is an epitome of age old tradition of ‘Shakti’ worship in northern India. Himalaya being the abode of Shiva and his consort’shakti’ became centre of shakti worship. In the vicinity of Panchkula there are numerous Shakti worshipping centers known by their names such as Chandi, Kalika, Mansa, Bhima etc. Hence, mythological speaking, Chandigarh-Panchkula region undoubtedly continued to be living legends of shaktism where its practices are in vogue. However, the present temple which stands a witness to the exciting past of the Shivalik region is about two hundred years old.
Sukhna lake
The Sukhna lake is situated in Sector 1 Chandigarh. In order to promote eco-tourism, it had been decided to replace the four-streyed tower on the island, which is used during the annual rowing event conducted at the lake, with a temporary structure. The lake also has a full length watercourse, developed in 1989 along with the tower when the city hosted the Asian Championship in 1989. All outside tourist come and visit the lake and this is the perfect place to go for boating and this is also a bird watchers paradise. The lake is a very popular for the picnic sport. The towers are an eyesore to visitors.
Rock Garden
A Rock garden also known as rockery garden, is a type of garden that features uses of stones and rocks along with plants native to rocky environments. Chandigarh is a modern city, built in a 1950s from a design by the french architect Le Corbusier. It is a monument of international importance which express this global problem through imagination and beauty. Chand used thrown away and industrial waste items everyday.
In the Chandigarh Rock garden is perhaps the most world's curious. It was created by Shri Nek Chand Saini, a resident of the city in 1958. He belongs to the Gurdaspur district in Punjab province. The urban waste material such as mute rocks turned into art objects and broken plugs, waste bottles, saucers, plates was turned into creative patterns. The rock garden is visited by over 5000 people daily.
Rose Garden
Rose Gareden is situated in the Sector 16 Chandigarh. It was created by Nek Chand Saini, a resident of the city in 1985. Every year there is a rose festival in Rose Garden. Many people come from different places to this festival. Rose Garden is well decorated with different kinds of flowers. In the festival there are different kinds of stalls like popkorns, ice cream, tickis and many more. The festival of garden (Rose Festival) the mega event of the U.T.
Elante Mall
Elante Mall is the largest mall in the region which has been recently opened at Industrial Area Chandigarh.The mall spread over 1.15 million sq. ft. of retail space is touted to be the largest mall in this region which has the blend of department stores, international and domestic lifestyle brands, a hypermarket, multiplex, entertainment zone, food court and open spaces.
The mall is built by L&T; Realty and offers 218 brands under one roof which makes it the shopper's destination. The mall houses famous brands like Mark's & Spencer's, Lifestyle, Shopper Stop , Westside and Pantaloons department stores offering clothes, bags, lingerie, shoes, perfumes etc. At the food zone there are popular names like McDonald's to Chilis to Noodle Bar in addition to a food court of over 20,000 sq. ft. with a seating capacity of 750 seats, a gaming section for children to have fun while their mom's are busy shopping; and last but not the least the multiplex PVR for movie buffs. Shopping Center(sector 17)
Shopping Center is located in sector 17. A scene in a market is very interesting. Although the market is quite spacious, it is always full of rush andtraffic especially in the evening. There are footpaths on both sides of the market for the pedestrians. Sector 17 is the main shopping center of the city.
Specially, in the afternoon when the school children come home from their schools, they go on observing things of their interest displayed by the shopkeepers in the display windows.In the evening they come with their parents and insist on buying some article or the other. Then they would visit some eating place or a restaurant. On holidays and other days off the market is overcrowded with people especially students.They all look for latest varieties of all things.
